Corporate Intelligence

On corporate intelligence; sometimes one wants to know who owns what, and sometimes one needs to know how profitable a company is. I used to use due dil, but they want a shed load of money these days, not saying they are not worth it, but I am not paying that for personal curiosity although my professional interest may take me back. Here, as ever, are my notes on obtaining corporate intelligence.

manifestly unfounded or excessive

It seems some organisations have caught up with the ability to refuse a DSAR because the request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. I am not sure where in the GDPR this was permitted, by which I mean, I don’t think it was. Here are some links.

Corruption

Sadly I have been looking to see what’s being said about Corruption and Anti-Corruption. Here are my links and notes. Value Discipines

I was thinking about business/IT strategy alignment and was reminded of the operational efficiency vs product excellence dichotomy that I have struggled with for years. I hadn’t realised it has one source, research by by Michael Treacy and Fred Wiersema. These theories came to be known as Value Disciplines and they included “customer intimacy” as a third value. The conclusion is that to win, you need to be best in class at one of the these values and good enough in the other two, lesson two is that you can’t be superlative in three and that doing it for two is hard.
